Painted wallpaper

Postby george » Sat Dec 22, 2012 3:05 pm

I am trying to strip off wallpaper which has been painted and it is a nightmare. My steamer has no effect and I have to physically scrape the paint off then steam the paper. Any tips? Thanks.

I've seen something that would help - referred to as a TIGER CLAW.

Basically a hand held tool with blades just protruding. Applied to wallpapers in a circular motion it penetrates the wallpaper without damaging the wall. Then your steamer should get at the paste.

Have a search on the internet for 'tiger claw wallpaper remover' - there are various ones on offer.

Another way would be to use a rough sandpaper just to take off some of the paint to let the steam attack the paper.

Good luck !!

The advice about the "tiger claw" is good.

You can also just use your scraper edge just to slash in some diagonal scores at regular intervals. This should start to let the moisture in.

The more scores you make the better but obviously only do what is necessary.
