Tesco Loft Insulation

Postby jubileejim » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:52 am

Hi

I was in Tesco yesterday and they were selling loft insulation. It appears a bit dubious though as it looks like bubble rap covered in foil. Apparently you staple it to the rafters and it reflects the heat back into the house and back out in the summer.

Does anyone know if this sounds feasible? or is it £20 (per roll) down the drain?

Thanks

Does it work if you staple it on the rafters? e.g. with a gap between felt and the insulation?

Hi Jubileejim,
A couple of problems I see with foil or any other insulation fixed to the rafters/spars are 1, you are unnecessarily heating the loft space, and 2, if the loft space is ventilated the heat will escape anyway,
