Telephone wiring Question

Hi,

I'm going to run a telephone extension to another room. Donwstairs I have the outdoor feed coming indoors, into a little box and the indoor cable out the other side of this to the main socket. I would like to know...

... When using the little connecting box/ junction box, can I install multiple cables in it, eg. each terminal taking two wires, like a mains junction box. Or can each terminal only take one wire?
