yes, but what sort of paint do you have on the wall? And what's underneath it and why do you want to remove the paint instead of painting over it?
a heat gun is mainly used for removing gloss.

As Justin says, heat guns are usually used to remove gloss paint.
But gloss paint 'sits' on the top of timber and a heat gun softens the paint so that it can be 'lifted' off the surface.
Usually walls (i.e. plaster or plasterboard) are porous so that any paint will be absorbed into them to some degree - I can't see how a heat gun would work without seriously damaging the surface.
