Drill bit sharpener

Tools, accessories and how to use them

Drill bit sharpener

Postby Steven » Sat May 24, 2008 8:38 am

Having blunted most of my drills trying to fit together my trailer I bought a drill bit sharpener which grinds the drill bit against the side of a grinding well at different angle settings depending on the type of drill. The instruction leaflet is very poor about how to set the drill in the 'trough' before offering it to the wheel and I seem to be creating mostly 'flat headed' drills. If anyone has one of these sharpeners can they help?

Hi Steven,
I have always sharpened drill bits freehand on a grinder so don't know much about sharpening tools. have a look at; http://www.woodcraft.com/articles.aspx?articleid=267
There is a bit of a knack and trial and error to sharpening drill bits but when you get the hang of it it's quite simple,
