Joining washbasin and toilet waste pipes

Postby Neil » Fri Jul 13, 2012 6:54 pm

Hi,

I would like to re-arrange the cloakroom layout, however the current waste run from the basin to the soil downpipe is too high for what I want to do. Is it acceptable to lower the basin waste run and join it into the top of the wc waste pipe (keeping a good drop angle) and avoid having to break into the soil downpipe again?

absolutely, as long as you have sufficient fall. Can't remember what the minimum is (1:50?). If you end up with a very long waste run, you may need to fit a vented trap to prevent gurgling.
